ShearMaster Woolshed

A genuinely cost-effective and shearer-friendly alternative to traditional woolsheds that eliminates the catching pen and can allow for a multi-purpose shed.

We started working on our ShearMaster system a couple of years ago and this last year a 4-stand system was installed into a shed in Tasmania. It performed well and the clients have since added an extra stand to make it a 5-stand. As of the time of writing(July 2022) we have sold 6 complete ShearMaster systems to farmers that have seen them in action.

During my fifteen years shearing, I did five seasons shearing in the United Kingdom, on race type systems that eliminated the traditional catch and drag, and I have always maintained that they were the best, fastest, and easiest shearing set-ups I had ever shorn on.

The ShearMaster draws on that experience, and the feedback from many other shearers, and I believe it offers a much better solution for shearers and farmers than traditional woolsheds with catching pens.

The irrefutable laws of physics dictate that it takes less time and energy to drag a sheep half a metre than 3-4 metres.

If you are shearing 250 sheep that average 80kgs in a traditional shearing shed you are either dragging 20,000 kgs about 3-4 metres, or you are dragging 80kgs about 800 to 1,000 metres. The ShearMaster drops that to either 20,000 kgs dragged for about half a metre, or 80kgs for about 120 metres. And of course, crutching just amplifies the problem.

I’ll let you decide which makes the most sense!

We also understand there are other sheep presentation options that have been developed of late. Our approach is, and has always been, that a shearing solution needs to be designed by a shearer, not an engineer, and that a system doesn't need to be expensive or complicated to make it efficient. Some use technology to tip sheep out of a race. We use gravity. We’ve found it to be cheaper and less prone to breakdowns!

Our ShearMaster is also the only shearing shed option we know of that includes upright sheep crutching cradles to allow for the fast and easy crutching of sheep and lambs, as part of the design. Its offers traditional shearing, and crutching cradles, all in one unit.
